| A Thank You From the EC Team |
News Author: samster01

We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and helped us getting into the top 100. We now need all your support if we are to progress further. However, as a thank you for your votes so far, we would like to present.

The Vortex Bomber was one of the most oddly designed planes ever manufactured by the Western European Alliance, considering how the lead designer fell asleep at his desk, and at the last minute, took the design concept straight out of the last film that he watched. Ironically, the design of the plane became something of a feat of engineering, and the bodywork was often being complimented on being 'too nice to fly into a warzone'. Nonetheless, the design was stuck with, and after a few alterations, created to almost the exact specifications used in the film. In early testing phases, the novel design caused several problems, notably, the engineers were unable to find a way in which to increase the manoeuvrability of the plane without the tail fins snapping off in mid air, which resulted in the horrific death of two test pilots early into the testing programme. The perseverance paid off, however, as the bomber swiftly came to be seen as a life saving weapon in future engagements. Due to the body shape of the Vortex, it has proven capable of carrying immense payloads under the most extreme of conditions. Specifically, the temperamental vortex technology, developed in secret by the WEA, can be stored in the body of the plane, due to the complementary shape of the plane and the vortex containment fields. Should the Vortex bomber get in range of an enemy's units, it will annihilate them with the powerful vortex weaponry, as the stability of the vortex bomb swiftly breaks down and implodes upon itself. This implosion also emits an ElectroMagnetic Pulse (or EMP) which disables all but the most basic of weapons in the area, allowing them to be picked off with ease. Unfortunately, it is not always possible for the Vortex to get in range of its targets, due to its body being made of a lightweight form of carbon fibre polymer. If the Vortex bomber does drop it's payload, it should return to its home airfield relatively unscathed, as the EMP effect renders the anti-air units in the vicinity completely useless.
We also have an ingame screen shot for you.

Merry Christmas! Well, at least, it is for the WEA comrade! Recent intelligence videos suggest that the WEA have been hiding their ace up their sleeve for quite some time. Having undergone severe modifications since the last time it was seen on the battlefield, the WEA have revealed their most potent weapon, the MASS.
Watch on YouTube
The Massive Aerial Strike System, or MASS for some peace of mind amongst the troops (lest they find out what it is actually called), is a foe not to be feared should you ever come into contact with it, the main reason being that you will likely already be dead. Floating using a unique propulsion system, the MASS emits massive electrical surges from the electrostatic pads on its chassis, polarising the air around it which in turn repels the massive discs, keeping the entire thing airborne. While the static charges from the MASS hit the ground in a light display that is second to none, you should be focused far more on the puny-looking gun at the front of the craft. From the few scarce bits of footage that we have seen and collated for you, and from survivors' stories, we are aware that this floating hulk of metal would be better known as a harbinger of death. Do not be fooled by the pathetic looking bomblets that it is capable of firing from its even more pathetic-looking weapon - each contains a Singularity bomb, capable of ripping flesh from bone, and more importantly, boiling any metal within range. The bomblets contain canisters that take several seconds to activate, but on doing so, reach critical mass and annihilate matter on a subatomic level, resulting in cataclysmic explosions. Should you be fast enough, however, the canisters can be deactivated by sustained firepower, as one of our Scorcher pilots found to his benefit not long ago. In this case, only a small explosion occurs, as the onboard C4 ignites, destroying the canisters before the Singularity can occur.
The cowardly WEA use an airborne weapon, one that cannot be targeted by our Behemoth. But like any airborne target, our Quickfires can shred it as long as they can stay out of it's range. Anything else should just stay the hell out the way of the MASS lest the pilot has a death wish, or if you are displeased with their service. A potent weapon in the hands of the enemy, but potent does not mean unbeatable. Good luck comrade, may luck favour you should you have need of it.

Features include: *Epic air unit, capable of giving and receiving plenty of [s>presents[/s> damage! *Fires singularity bomblets which deal heavy damage, but can be deactivated if destroyed in time. *Capable of designating enemy units to increase firepower of friendly units.
We also have a special treat for you folks, in the form of a wallpaper featuring all three of the epic units in the game. Who will win is anyone's guess, but it will be one hell of a fight!

Finally, it is that time of the year once again! ModDB is hosting it's annual Mod of the Year Awards, and if you think European Conflict has done enough to warrant a mention, please don't forget to vote for us Here!

Rolling out, commander! A line uttered by almost every unit, in every game ever made. It's not really that fun or interesting, and it sure as heck isn't unique. So for this month's bonus update, we are going to be a little unique. By not updating you with anything at all.
Instead, we are enlisting you to help us! The problem with developing a mod is that sometimes, you don't have enough brains to pump for ideas. So we're going to be using yours instead. We won't be feeding them to our pet zombies, but we will be asking you to rack them for ideas. We want you to come up with some of the most imaginative lines that you can think of for ANY unit that has so far been released. We'll provide the voices, but we want you to provide the script. For example, should you select the DragonLord, we want several awesome, awe-inspiring lines, perhaps something along the lines of "We'll roast those pigs"
To enter this once-in-a-lifetime competition, you will need to provide at least one line, maximum of three, for each of the following actions: Selection of the unit Movement of the unit The unit attacking.
You may choose up to three units. You may only enter once. You may not eat someone else's brain to get more ideas. Should you wish to enter, you need simply post your minimum of three lines, maximum of nine, right here: Forum! by the 1st of January.
But wait, there's even more. This is not just a bit of fun, but it's also competitive fun! Of all the entries, we will be picking a winner, who has the overall best lines for their chosen unit. This winner will then get the following: - A signature and avatar accrediting their win - A place on the mod credits - The oppurtunity to help rename a fair few of the current units, including the AC Reconer, the AC AHTT and the WEA RSDG.
So, from the EC team, good luck, and have fun!

Western European Alliance Starchild
A fantastic feat of engineering ingenuity, the Starchild is the pride of the WEA's aeronautical division, and is capable of singlehandedly fighting off almost any foe. With recent advances in jet engine technology, the WEA has been able to nearly perfect a new take-off system for this aircraft, with minimal runway required in order to allow the plane to reach maximum velocity, thus minimising the targets for enemy artillery strike. The downside of this is that the extreme G-Force extorted on the pilots is near life-threatening, and thus only the most elite and athletic pilots are allowed to even touch the Starchild, let alone fly one. However, if successful, these pilots are given access to some of the most powerful technology in the hands of the WEA, with the Starchild sporting dual machineguns capable of shredding anything in the air, and two independent missile systems that are able to deal severe punishment to anything on the ground. These weapons can be further upgraded in the field, but these weapon-systems are strictly confidential until on the field of battle itself, and then, only at the highest state of emergency. This unique aircraft does come at a price, however, with the lightweight fuselage unable to take much damage and thus failing several high-level safety tests. Nonetheless, the Starchild has been swiftly deployed to far-reaching areas of the battle, in the hope that it's weapons will have run out of ammunition before the fuselage gives way, allowing the pilot to return safely before being turned into cannon fodder.

Unit's Abilities: Powerful anti ground missiles Machine Guns for combatting other aircraft Capable of high speed, even in sharp turns
We also have something a little different for you. I would like to present you all two unique pieces of music from our musician Nagerb :) Both pieces are for the Western European Alliance faction. Firstly we have Broken Defence.
